help with a costume

okay so the deal is i am wondering what i should be for halloween. i want to be a valley girl from the 80's but i have no idea how to be that. i bought i dress with ruffles and neon pink jacket with zippers but the thing is the dress is black. what should i do to make the dress look more like its from the 80's and what should i add to the costume? now i have to ramble on because i dont have enough characters. so is there anything i should know about a valley girl and yes i know i am black but i like white people things so i'm good not tryin to be racist
