On A Quest For A Roommate

I was recently accepted to some colleges and realized that I would actually be living with another human being who I'm not related to. I'm not exactly the most social butterfly, and I prefer to stay in my room and sleep. My absolute NIGHTMARE is being paired up with some party-animal who's going to be loud and obnoxious, and refuse to accept my need for quiet. And sleep. My plan is this: find a rabid Harry Potter fan. I know that way we'll get along. (On a side note, if anyone is looking for a roommate similar to this, please, message me, and we'll talk colleges.)

So here's my question: How did your roommate situation go? I've heard of RoomSurf, but apparently there's some controversy attached to that. How did you find your roommate? Were you randomly matched? And did you get along?
