What Is Up With All These Angsty Vampires?

I grew up with vampires. I loved how they could be so smooth and cool but still be bloodthirsty creatures of the night, luring people in and enslaving them. Dracula is my favorite, what with wicked powers and his suave personality. He could shapeshift and control weather and animals, not to mention make the ladies swoon. Check out Gary Oldman as Dracula. I think he captured him as he was in the book best. But now we have all these vampires who bemoan their existence and the killing and bloodlust, and at that point I just want the slayer to show up and kill them. Or them to commit suicide, that's even better. They bore me. Seriously, you've whined about this for a thousand years, why not just kill yourself? It's not like they're indestructible. Even the first vampires have been killed in books and films. So many amazing monsters have been destroyed in their humanization because they all sound like they suffer from clinical depression. It's one thing to make them more human. This is just sad to me.
