FenCon XI.

While strolling through my hallways the other day, I came across this flyer on the outside the library for the FenCon Young Author Contest. The flyer didn't have too much information about the actual contest, so I googled it. As it turns out, it's this neat little contest (as the title suggests, haha) for third graders through twelfth graders in the Dallas/Fort Worth. I sorta want to enter, but I've never really written about sci-fi or fantasy, which are the two topics for this year. Besides that contest, FenCon also has the Short Story Contest, which is for anyone, really. It's just not free, like the Young Author Contest.

I've been toying with the idea of entering, just for fun, you know. I doubt I'd actually place considering the fact I'd have to force myself to write because of writer's block. I do have several ideas, though, which is good on my part. As I said, I never write sci-fi or fantasy to begin with, so I'm hoping I can just wing it.

Anyway, has anyone ever entered a writing contest? If so, did you place?
