Current Song: "Shiny Happy People" by R.E.M.

My reading goal was 40 books this year and I made it to 43! Here is a list of the books and the ratings I gave them on Goodreads (out of 5 stars). 4 stars

41. The Help Kathryn Stockett
5 stars

42. Italian Cinema by Peter Bondanella

43. The Color Purple by Alice Walker
1 star (I know you're supposed to like this because it's a classic but I just couldn't get into this).

I kept track of the pages as well and from Jan. 1 to today I read 12,883 pages. I'm currently reading Evicted by Matthew Desmond and I'm about halfway through it. I actually want to stop reading since it's a bit boring (I already knew some of the facts I read about and the other facts I could've figured from living in Chicago). I'll just push through.

2016 is leaving us and 2017 is coming. Honestly, 2016 was actually shit. Sure, Leonardo DiCaprio won an Oscar and the Chicago Cubs won the World Series but oh my God the rest is just no. First of all, the friend I was basically in love with told me he doesn't feel the same and then in July we had a fallout (for another reason) and haven't spoken to each other since. I tried saving his life so I'm the bad guy in this situation. It's my fault I feel the way I do. He refuses to fix himself even though I'm not the first person who stopped being his friend because of this. I'm probably about the fifth person who talked to him about the situation. And then all that wondering if my friends from last year liked me, getting into an argument with one of my neighbors (he told my friends he knows certain jokes piss me off so he purposely made them to make my angry. I got angry, and then he got angry at me for being angry. Bruh, I literally gave you what you wanted). My unwanted thoughts are growing worse. Now there's some family drama and Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds are dead. So I'm pretty much done with this year.

Some resolutions are to get my ass to a psychiatrist and to read at least 50 books this year. If I follow my current list, the books are:

1. Evicted
2. The Picture of Dorian Gray
3. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
4. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
5. The Kite Runner
6. Dracula
7. The Nightmare Before Christmas
8. Les Miserables
9. The Bad Beginning (I know I only gave it 2 stars, but then I found out that book 13 has an open ending that you either hate or love so now I gotta read the entire series. I got the box set for Christmas)
10. The Reptile Room
11. The Wide Window
12. The Miserable Mill
13. The Austere Academy
14. The Ersatz Elevator
15. The Vile Village
16. The Hostile Hospital
17. The Carnivorous Carnival
18. The Slippery Slope
19. The Grim Grotto
20. The Penultimate Peril
21. The End
22. Old Yeller (reread)
23. Savage Sam
24. Maus I
25. Maus II
26. The Handmaid's Tale
27. Blindness
28. Winesburg, Ohio
