Camp Triumph?

Camp Triumph is a unique residential camp, which fills a need for an often unrecognized, group of children throughout Atlantic Canada. This camp is designed to address the needs of children, between the ages of 8-17, who are living in families that have been affected by chronic illness or disability. When one family member has a significant medical condition, the whole family is impacted in many ways. Often there is uncertainty about the future, financial burdens, and other stressors that necessitate making the ill family member the priority. This can make it more difficult for the healthy members of the family to get the attention and opportunities from which they would otherwise have benefited. Camp Triumph is for these children. So my psychiatrist is thinking about sending me to this camp.

I don't really know what to think.

We don't have to worry about the financial issues, as Susan [my psychiatrist] is going to take care of it.

I still don't know.

I'm a little scared. I've been contemplating whether or not I should go all day.

At times, I've been really intimedated by it. I mean- I'll be in a different province for a week, by myself. I won't know anybody.

Then there's the chance that it might be fun.
I'd have a chance to meet new people that have an idea of what's going on at home. Maybe I'd even make a friend or two.

I really don't know.
What do you think?
