Christianity vs Homosexuality...a lovely little rant. ^_^

NOTE! IF YOU HAVE ANY HARD FEELINGS TOWARDS CHRISTIANITY, OR IF YOU'RE GUNNA JUDGE ME BASED ON MY OWN DECISIONS, YOU CAN STILL READ THIS, BUT DON'T BOTHER WITH THE NASTY COMMENTS. It won't bother me, anyway.

Many, if not all of you, have probably heard the idea that homosexuality is wrong, sinful, and will damn anyone involved in it to Hell. In my own personal opinion, this is absolutely absurd.

Yes, I am Christian. I am also, however, bisexual, along with the majority of my friends. Does this bother me? Aren't I afraid of spending the rest of eternity rotting in Hell for the horrible lesbian actions I have decided to expose myself to? The answer is no. This entire idea is wrapped around a single Bible verse, ripped out of context and magnified out of control. It simply states:

"Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable." -Leviticus 18:22

NO WHERE in this verse does it say "being gay will put you in Hell". It simply states that it is a sin, which I believe. However, if you read the rest of the chapter, it also mentions that you should not have sex with a woman while she's on her period (Leviticus 18:19), do not have sex with a married woman that is not your wife (Leviticus 18:20), or have sex with a close relative (Leviticus 18:6). Other things mentioned are beastiality, adultery, and having sex with your wife's sister. Don't believe me? Check it and see.

Another point I must make is that this particular verse is viciously out of context. Basically, the entire book of Leviticus wasn't written to us!! -gasp!!- It was actually a set of laws given to Moses for HIS people, at THAT time. THE BIBLE IS A HISTORY BOOK!!! Not only does it tell a story about the past, but it was WRITTEN BY MAN! It is NOT the direct word of God (key word there is DIRECT...as in God Himself did not ascend down from Heaven and write the Bible himself). Hence, we should NOT take it literally. Yes, it should be taken as a guideline for everyday life. GUIDELINE. o0o0o0

Now if that's not enough, let's take a look at some basic lessons everyone knows and loves that gives everyone a nice, warm, fuzzy feeling inside.

Do others as you would want them to do to you. (Luke 6:32...also known as the Golden Rule)
[Of course, if they're gay, they're not like you, so you don't have to treat them the way you'd want them to treat you, right? Right?]

Love thy neighbor. (Matthew 22:39)
[Unless your neighbor is gay, right?]

For God so loved THE WORLD [I guess except the gay people] that he gave is only begotten son, so that whosoever believed in him [besides the gay Christians, of course] would have eternal life. (John 3:16)

Look, I'm not trying to shove things down your throat or anything, I'm just saying. If you don't like the homosexuals and the bisexuals for some other reason, fine. Whatever. But don't play the religion card. Yes, it is a sin. But so is lying, so is cheating, so is judgement.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God!
There's but one one damnable sin, and that's denying Christ.
