While performing an alchemical taboo, human transmutations in attempt to bring their dead mother back to life, Edward Elric loses an arm and leg while his younger brother, Alphonse, is nothing more then a soul attached to a suit of armor. There are many types of alchemy; Shou Tucker, "Sewing-Life Alchemist", specializes in biological transmutations while Ed's commanding officer, Roy Mustang, "Flame Alchemist", can control fire. However, despite the alchemists great powers when a killer begins targeting state alchemists no-one is safe.
