Jeez, you have the longest summer break ever.

I think freshman year was difficult just because you have to adjust, but it definitely wasn't my hardest year.

Oh, I remember that song... good times. I was still in elementary school when that song came out! It feels like it's been around forever though.

Haha! Sorry, I shouldn't laugh, but it is funny. Maybe you can just get a copy from the library.

Three days?! Your school starts so late! All the high schools I know have been in session for a week, and even my college classes start tomorrow! I hope you have to go until June or something.

Everyone you meet in middle school is that way. Thank God it only lasts for two years! I'd like to block out as much of my middle school memories as possible.

Ah, reading was so much fun in elementary school... then I got to middle school, and it all went downhill. It was really 8th grade that did it. Case and point: The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman. Are they trying to make us hate reading? Luckily, things like the Pendragon Adventure kept me interested.

The Merchant of Death actually is the first one! Haha, what a coincidence! Here they are in order just for reference:
1. The Merchant of Death
2. The Lost City of Faar
3. The Never War
4. The Reality Bug
5. Black Water
6. The Rivers of Zadaa
7. The Quillan Games
8. The Pilgrims of Rayne
9. Raven Rise
10. The Soldiers of Halla

Oh! I forgot to add that Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life is good if you want a short, easy read. And we're all secretly nerds on the inside.

Sure! What sort of things do you like to read? Jodi Picoult is one of my favorite authors; she addresses social and moral issues. The Maximum Ride series by James Patterson is a really good sci-fi series, and so is the Pendragon series by D.J. MacHale. If you want to get more into the classics, Frankenstein and the Phantom of the Opera are really good. A Yellow Raft in Blue Water, Cat's Eye, and The House of the Spirits are all books I've had to read for school but enjoyed. I hope that gives you an idea!

Very true. I'm a highly unqualified adviser, but hopefully it'll help just the same.

No problem! I'm always happy to help new writers in any way that I can. The important thing is to just keep practicing. I think you sort of get better on your own.
