Cinderella

I wished upon a star
For this one opportunity.
This one chance to
Show you what I'm about.
Nothing fancy,
But I put on a great show.

Now we're living faster
And loving stronger
At least just for this night.
We'll make it last
As long as we can,
our few hours in paradise.

But now with only minutes left,
I know goodbye is near.
We're just spending these
Last moments gazing at this clock.
It's pendulum's rhymithic metronome
Slows as the gears each
Grind one last time.
The clock stops
Hands in the air
Mocking my own surrender.
Our time is over,
Goodbye is here.

I'm rushing down the steps
Into the cool night's rain.
Not even a slipper
Is left behind.
I should have realised
That I'm no princess
And this fairytale is not mine.
