Joyful Faces

Joyful Faces

I saw you standing next to them
Their joyful faces return the smile that you send their way
Oh, how I wish you would smile at me like that
I know you can,
But will you?
Do you even know I saw you?

The embarrassing meetings are getting out of hand
The apples on the floor show me how ridiculous this behaviour is
It makes me want to curl up in a ball and hide
Still, it makes me look up at you
I am embarrassed, true
But strangely happy at the same time
You smile at me.

I guess I have to keep that memory
I don’t see it happen in the near future again
You make me want things I shouldn’t have
But would you give them to me?
Will I ever ask for it?
Their joyful faces look up at me
They smile and wave, so I smile and wave back
You look up at me and you give me that smile that I love
I drop the apples again.
