Blackberries

Silence from every echo,
A tantalising glimpse that just reminds me
That I was here with you,
Before cobwebs crept and lined the smokey walls,
And dust settled thick in a veiled carpet,
Thick beneath my tired broken shoes.

I walked for hours,
I must have crossed my tracks at least thirty times
Looking for this place,
I remembered - just, where I almost forgot,
The crawl under thorny branches,
Blackberries sweet and cutting in our mouths.

I jump; the light reflected
Through the shattered window almost makes it look
Like you are here,
Resplendent in dust and debris,
You have come to save me.

I look again,the dust rotates,
Lazy and unrelenting,
Nothing could interrupt the stoic flow.
But you. You.
You were here.
I know that you came to find me.
As I came here to find you.
