I've Been Classified

In front of the silver looking glass
decide now how I want to look.
Don't believe what they say;
I do have a choice.
Go with yesterday's preppy or
Last week's gothic.
Monday's geeky or
Last fortnight's punk.
Eyeliner on your upper lashes or all around;
Dainty pendant or spiked collar;
The offensive ripped shirt or coordinated pastels-

Different early morning rituals lead to
different everyday experiences.
Glares
wolf-whistles
haters
pick-up lines
smiles
middle fingers
distrust.

Choose.
It's all a mere perception, so
fool the beholder.
Everybody judges the book by its proverbial cover.

Now in front of the looking glass
I shall decide how I want to look.

Ultimately it's all in my hands.
