It Doean't Matter-A Poem In Loving Memory of a Mother Taken Away too Early in Life

It doesn’t matter
If today we can’t keep the tears inside
It doesn’t matter
Because today we shall not hide
It doesn’t matter
That she’s six feet through the ground.
It doesn’t matter
That no longer will she be around.

It doesn’t matter
How many times we have a new start
It doesn’t matter
That she will only ever be in our heart
It doesn’t matter
How our lives might differ
It doesn’t matter
That we will always miss her

It doesn’t matter
That never again will we see the departed
It doesn’t matter
That her early death left us downhearted
It doesn’t matter
How many years pass us by
It doesn’t matter
That now she lives above the sky

It doesn’t matter
That I stay up the night to pace
It doesn’t matter
That I can’t remember her face
It doesn’t matter
Because she will always be my mother.
It doesn’t matter
Since there will never be another.

Not my best work, but my favorite and my first. I'll always love you, Mom, and even though it's been eight years and something months since I last saw you I will never forget. Not ever.

In loving memory of Linda Gayle: mother, daughter, sister, friend. January 12, 1963-April 18, 2001
