A Sonnet on Regret

Upon remembrance, your body shivers.
You feel like jumping from a near window.
No other emotion can deliver,
What regret always threatens to bestow.
What an agitating silence it builds,
Sitting, more or less drowning in mistakes.
And it can never be completely killed.
A burden that continues to create.
The feeling of it attached to your back,
While it feeds endlessly on arrogance.
Just like you’re its own delectable snack.
Bat it away with a forced carelessness.
No matter how you try to defeat it,
Your past will seek you until feel it.
