Winter.

Like bracelets on your wrists
Your eyes are ringed in purple
and blue
Like snowflakes of the coming
season.

Diamonds in a bed of orange
and brown and red
Like melting pills upon the tongue
to make you better, all better.

Tricks to call out
the wild of you and twist
your memories
Like broken glass
or a bare foot on the hot ground.

But the ground has turned cold and wet
Matching the tears on your face.

I'll wrap you, all soft and warm,
Blanket and a hot mug
to ward off the approaching
cold
Like arms of a mother
or arms of a friend.

Someday I'll see you
and that blanket
will be my arms,
and that mug will be my kiss
We'll both cry snowflakes

The only season I see your face.
