Dreams

Dreams
frightening,
unmerciful,
immodest.
No wonder the brain forgets.
Obviously locked away
for a reason.
When dreams come knocking,
the unwanted visitor,
Blowing up the draw bridge,
Crossing the moat,
And invading the highest tower.
Protection? Gone.
Vulnerable to
the real you.

Dreams
dig,
pick,
claw,
At buried memories and
ignored desires.
Scoping uncharted areas,
Discovering new species,
Illuminating the
darkest corners.

Abandonment hovers in the unknown.
The horror movies plays
And you peer hesitantly through
cracked fingers.
Hope, hope, hope for the end.
Doubtful.
