Innocence

A child dressed up
Pink glittery fairy wings
Runs to her backyard
In the dark
Alone
Seeing a magical world
Within her brilliant
Imagination.
She flies with eagles and dragons,
When really she runs
In her Nike sneakers.
Doesn't even realize
The real monster
Awaits her in the shadows.
They find her the next morning,
Stripped of her innocence,
Without imagination left,
Just plain old
Scary
Reality.
