Seeing Eye Dog

My entry for this lyric contest.

------------------------------------------
So you call, but I don't pick up the phone
And all along, you know I'm home
Lately I've been just trying to shrug it off

And I wonder what I'm doing here
When I know I need to clear the air
This should be over with by now

I can't be your seeing eye dog
Sometimes you have to hit some walls
I don't you to get hurt
But I won't clip your wings, that's wrong
Whatever's meant to be is inevitable
If I keep doing this, you'll never learn
It's your turn
To do this on your own

You ask what I want
But I know you know
And I don't want to talk
Because I know how it goes
I'm tired of doing the same things over and over

We've never really been on the same page
Enough of this give and take
Everyone knows you have to sleep in the bed you make

I can't be your seeing eye dog
Sometimes you have to hit some walls
I don't want you to get hurt
But I won't clip your wings, that's wrong
Whatever's meant to be is inevitable
If I keep doing this, you'll never learn
It's your turn
To do this one your own

Nothing has to be spoken
You know it's already broken
And I'm not sure there's anything to fix
There's not much to mended
After this

I can't be your seeing eye dog
I can't clip your wings, that's wrong
It's time to face the world on your own
Like I've been doing all along, without your hand
Baby, it's really not that bad
