Lover's Gamble

Must I succumb to the temptations,
These final sins a soul partakes,
It’s silent release of inhibitions,
A slow gamble with high stakes?

With mask I chose the barred door,
No window to the turbulent within.
A simple glance and it unravels once more,
The closing ever harder to begin.

The glances stolen, the touches adored,
Only in absence would choose to show.
For secrets were never meant to be told,
And these sins are my beloved woe.

The cards I lay are quite unsure,
A proof of my novice ways.
But could I ever call me pure,
When in my head the longing plays.

Ah, the chains I chose to bind myself,
Such prideful disgrace did I choose.
Yet now irrationality does rule one’s self,
Marking a dream I cannot lose.

So I admit, I'm not too hot about writing about love. It's the one thing I find that poems are so overused for. (No offense to people who love love poems! I love them too!) So I've been trying to avoid this whole topic for the poem.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy and I hope it's not cheesy or not that cheesy. I might add some to it later on. so READ AND REVIEW pleeeaaase.
