Innocent Angel

This innocent angel closes her eyes,
As daddy sings the lullaby
Where under blankets holds secrets
And lies
The innocent angel just wants to die

She sleeps silently, without a tear
Though danger lurks so very near
She can’t hold back or stop
It’s clear
Her sadness lies right next to fear

The smile that she wears so dear,
Cannot excuse what has happened here
Under blankets, mistaken fingers
That is where her daddy lingers
This man is such a sinister singer
As he sings her lullaby

She feels so hollow and alone
She has no place to call her own
Evidence of abuse cannot be
Undone
Her innocence has come…

…and gone
