Identities

I spin around to take a look
In the mirror.
All I see is a person dressed
All in black.

“Good” I think to myself
Because I don’t care what
People think of me.

I walk through the doors
Of the school, and walk
Past those who laugh at
The ones who aren’t popular.

I roll my eyes and smile
As I walk past.
in class I laugh at those who
think they are so cool.

Today will be the day
That I will stand up for
Myself and say “I am
Proud to be an Army
Cadet and proud to be
Canadian.

Our identities are apart
Of who we are and who
We become. I know
That this world is
Full of identities.

But today I don’t care
Who I become. I have
My own life and my
Own identity. No one
Can take that away
From me.
