Protected Perception

Viewing the world through clear blue eyes,
Innocence and purity will be our demise,
Carefully covered in a veil of white,
Protected from everything in our sight

But underneath it’s painted black,
Nothing is easily taken back,
It’s truth it’s life and that is that,
Stay out of the book if you can’t accept fact

So take the sheet off of your head,
You can sleep all night in that bed,
But it won’t stop the things that keep haunting you,
These pains will gnaw until they get through.

The brain wash conspiracy,
All those maniacal theories,
Just to get in our heads,
It’s all words what they said.

Lying is part of the game,
It all ends the same,
Just cheating around,
Another way found.

Make what you want of it. :)
P.S. I have no poetry training so I don't know if this is free verse. I guessed. If I were feeling ballsy it would have gone under elegy, simply because I like the word. I decided to not press my luck though. :)
P.S.S. Don't tell me what type of poem it is or else I'll think you're just an obnoxious person who feels like they have to spread proper poetry type to the world. You really think Robert Frost was thinking "I wonder what type of poem this is?" when he was writing? Yeah, what I thought.
