Exit Left

Smiling, reading such rehearsed lines

Nodding and reassuring, yes of course I'm fine

Just like an actor, I put on my best show

To hide what I'm feeling, so they won't know

The pain, the sadness, the raw girl beneath

The bloody, forgotten person no one can see

Exit Left from the stage, I say to myself

Get away from these people, it's not good for your health

I rip off the mask as soon as I get home

And cry in my bedroom, once again so alone

Knowing that they may never see

The real me.
