Handprints Of Love And Colors

When I leave my handprint on the fog of your window;
Would it imprint everything I want us to be?
And if I asked you for a lifetime together;
Would you be the one to spend it with me?
Love; don't let go; just ask and I'll promise to leave;
But only to pretend to lay next to you when I fall alone and asleep.

I'd love to tell you how much I love you;
But you can't say "I miss you" to someone you never see.
The bruise you left;
That sits on the middle of my chest;
Will always remind me;
Sometimes you must re-learn the very things you used to teach.

Worrying about you is all I can seem to do these days;
I still remember that face and the first time you called my name.
Things won't always work out the way we'd like them to;
But I still want you to know I'm always right here for you.

I'd like to paint my emotions across the colors in the sky;
And point out what all the different ones mean.
Sometimes I wish I didn't have to wonder so often;
If this is really how easy it's supposed to be.
Love; I wish you would never let go; yet if you ask; I'd still leave;
But only if I can pretend to lay next to you when I fall alone and asleep.

I'd love to tell you how much I love you;
But you can't say "I miss you" to someone you never see.
The bruise you left;
That sits on the middle of my chest;
Will always remind me;
Sometimes you must re-learn the very things you used to teach.
