CHOICE

I… dream…
Don't you?

I… dream…
of
open doors of opportunity.

(rise to majestic heights)

Do not
(distrust)
refuse to believe
(distrust).

Forgo
a
dark and desolate valley:
bitterness and hatred.

Don't dream in
jangling discords.
Dream in
a beautiful symphony.

Thirst for freedom.
(creative)

…Some… have come… out of great trials and tribulations.
A rude awakening.
Neither rest nor tranquility.
I still have a dream.

With
fierce urgency,
fight through the
sweltering summer
to find the
invigorating autumn of freedom...

Seared in flames,
(painful/harsh)
crippled by manacles and… chains -
(words/opinions)
We cannot turn back.

We cannot walk alone.
Freedom is inextricably bound to
Freedom.
Destiny is tied up with
Destiny

We can:
Work together.
Struggle together.
Stand up for freedom together.
Let freedom ring.
We will be free…

This is...
Hope.
Faith.

(rise to majestic heights)

Not an end, but a beginning.

I have a dream…
Do you?

An English assignment. A found poem based on Martin Luther King, Jr.'s I Have a Dream speech. The lines in italics are his words. I tried to morph the idea from racism to following your dreams.
