Creature Of The Night

Toxic lips brush over my skin,
Leaving a path of blood in their wake.
I’ve realized a moment too soon,
Your promise of love was fake.

Sharp needles pierce my flesh,
The world swims before my eyes.
My soul slowly fades away,
While my broken shell cries.

Your arms are constricting,
You’re nails digging into my waist.
Forcing me to your chest,
I try to mumble my distaste.

My voice is too weak,
My tears turn to bloody smears.
My quiet begs of clemency turn to gasps,
You unearth my suffocated fears.

Pupils fully dilated,
The moon shining pale on my head.
You know what I’m thinking-
That I’d be better off dead.

My thoughts fade to a dull static,
You’re beginning to have your fun.
I make an attempt to break away,
Knowing I’m almost done.

Your hand squeezes my throat,
Forcing my breathing to cease.
My knees give out,
I will become your feast.

“Please, finish me quickly,”
I whisper as I start to shake.
My eyes squeeze shut as you let me go,
I pray it’s for my sake.

You bend your head forward,
My blood glistening on your fangs.
You touch your lips to mine,
And I know where my life precariously hangs.

My vision fades to black,
As you wrap me in your arms.
My body is dying quickly,
From your merciless harm.

You whisper in my ear,
“Come now, little devil, and take your destined flight-
You’re one of us now,
A creature of the night.”

“Fulfill the prophecy,
You shall not let us down.
Grow in the darkness,
Scream the silent sound.”

“Be the whisper in the night,
You’re ill-fate has led you here.
The world of myths shall be exposed,
If you don’t accept this challenge, dear.”

“You’re strong, and hard-headed,
You’re brave, and smart too.
Rise up from you’re resting place,
We’ll make a legend of you.”

“Open you’re eyes, sweet angel,
Dry you’re tears, and accept the night.
Arise from your slumber,
And acknowledge your new sight.”

“Forever is awaiting,”
You finish in a sigh,
You run you fingers through my hair,
And I quickly wonder why.

I open my eyes,
And push you away.
I’m no longer a creature of the sun,
I’ll never again see the day.

Thanks to you, I’m ruined.
My life is now torn and stained.
I want no part of this,
Your mistake shall always reign.
