Perfection

They say that because we’re human
We can’t be perfect
That it isn’t real
Perfection doesn’t exist

But I beg to differ
I think it does
And I know someone
Who is because

He’s the light of my life
He’s my other half
Yes, silly it seems
So go ahead laugh

But I think he’s perfect
He’s funny and smart
And once, long ago
He took my heart

I’ll never be the same
Since his perfection touched me
He was perfect
Oh, can’t you see?

No? Well then
I suppose I’ll show you
So maybe you
Can see his perfection too

He has brown eyes
Warmer than a beach in July
He has warm hands
Soft, gentle and wide

He has dark curls
That are soft and thick
He’s warm and gentle
Do you see yet that he’s perfect?

And if you don’t
Don’t worry I have more
Yet I have no idea
What I’m telling you for

You don’t need to know
About his perfection, see
It’s mine I tell you
He half belongs to me

Sure that makes me possessive
But you’ll never understand
The bond between us
It’s age old and

You can’t really see
What I do
Because it will never be the same
To me as it is to you

He’s perfect with his laugh
And his perfect voice
But his perfection’s not right
Even though it should be my choice

So… He’s perfect
And I’m just plain
But that’s okay
‘Cause he loves me all the same
