Erase This Line

tonight we crossed the line
then drew another in its place
we danced along
every hurtful thing that we say
we all ignore
the tension in this place
fighting every urge to believe
that we dont belong together
it will all fall eventually

we'll stay here in this place tonight
as we hide every urge we have to fight
one day we are going to find
the truth behind the others eyes
and thats perfectly fine
but can we try to erase this line

confrontation is the key
to almost everything
standing on our own sides
protecting possessive sides of the line
we draw our blades
attack gracefully with our words
one day we'll free fly like a bird

we'll stay here in this place tonight
as we hide every urge we have to fight
one day we are all going to find
the truth behind their eyes
and thats perfectly fine
but can we try to erase this line

we dont quite hate each other yet
but if we dont act soon it will set
and we dont want that

we'll stay here in this place tonight
as we hide every urge we have to fight
one day we are all going to find
the truth behind the others eyes
and thats perfectly fine
but can we try to erase this line

before it defines out everything
erase this line

Last night my dad and I sat on the couch, with my step brother and one of my step sisters (the ones that we live with) sitting on the chair near us. And as we started erasing a line that none of us had wanted to cross, I could see a giant permanent marker drawing another right between our two families....I wrote this as it happened....
