Summer Drive

Half a year went by
I only blinked twice
Ten days of driving south
Cried boredom from our mouths

The old towns we once roamed
To finally make it home
Black bears and icy lakes
Your Trans Ams broken brakes

We stared at dark's disguise
It looked back with yellow eyes
Down those black roads you hate
We read scores we won't set straight

I drank through final straws
Last day to see our doors
Catch the Monday flight
Each stay up all night

We'll find another home
One day I'll lose my phone
Have kids and jobs and cars
Forget who we all are

I guess we'll find new ends
But that all depends
I'll never feel alive
Like on our summer drive

And yeah we had some fun
But I guess now we're done
Catch the Thursday flight
We'll fall asleep that night

I don't write poems often, but this one was special to me :)
