A Prayer for the Lost

Image

My sweet forgiving God,
please make me a beautiful butterfly
a frail and innocent creature
that knows no pain or how to cry
paint my wings the color of a rainbow
to cover up what I really feel inside
Let the colors bring on a new day
and give me no reason to need to hide

Dear God, please look and see
The intent my heart truly holds
look past my days of poorer judgment
and realize I am trying to break out of the mold
please have mercy and make my days easier
see my troubles, and the pain within
place a forgiving hand to set me free
make the future easier then the past has been

Heavenly Father, I know that you see
my efforts to create my own fate
I diligently strive to leave behind
those who instill both fear and hate
Bring to me only those whom you choose
that will be a pillar of support
to make judgment day easier
when I reach the golden gates of your court

So please my almighty Lord
think about trading my pain for wings
and make me as innocent and beautiful
as the freedom song the caged bird sings
Understand my burdens have grown too real
and that this is my final plea
I know you will help to see me through
and give me the wings to set me free.
