Things I Won't Say

These are things I won’t say,
Things I won’t tell you today.
We’ll start at number one,
And won’t stop til we’re done.
We’ll start down the sidewalk,
And somewhere begin to talk.

There are four of these beasts,
Not a one of them the least.
They’ll take a while to explain,
But none will bring me shame.
They’re all fairly simple things,
I’m ready to see the reaction it brings.

First things first, just like this.
Nothing big and shiny, just this.
Walking together holding hands,
Neither on pedestals or stands.
Neither one better than the other,
Enjoying the company of each other.

Second thing, a conversation,
A decent, lasting conversation.
Something just a little deeper,
Something just a little longer.
That’s not asking much really,
But it honestly is to me.

Third is a big lasting bear hug,
There’s no such thing as snug.
Just hold me a little tighter,
Make me smile a little brighter.
Close your eyes and enjoy it,
Even more than a little bit.

Last but not least, a kiss.
A simple moment of bliss.
It can be smooth as cream,
And something out of a dream.
With nothing left to say about it,
I’ll leave you to think about it.

These are things I won’t say,
Things I won’t tell you today.
We started at number one,
And now we’re finally done.
We started down the sidewalk,
And had our time to talk.

Thank you.
