Lonely Woman Blues

She dreams in color,
but the dreams just fade away.
She's lost the love of another,
and gone has the day.

Street lamps light her path ahead,
but they can't lead her back.
The future isn't so dead,
but you're what it lacks.

She dances alone on the floor.
Her arms embracing only sweet air.
She's waiting for you to knock on her door,
and she's ready to say she still cares.

She sets a place for one again,
and says to no one, " This is killing me."
Is laughing such a sin,
when a lonely life is all she sees?
