Diamonds in My Skin

He ate my heart
Though it’s not a matter of how
He ate hers too
He’s consuming it now
Wandering within this house of steam
So well I did once know
Images distorted
I bring my hand to the window
Making no effort my mask to hide

I see them there inside
The carnivore, his meal and mate
There’s her heart again
Convulsing on a porcelain plate
Discolored, disfigured; his previous demolition
His hands, his mouth, his eyes the ammunition

I strike the glass
One, two three it’s cracking
The door is thick, the glass is hard
My sanity is lacking

You ate my heart!
You ate my soul, over and over I scream
I’m reckless now, the fog is clearing
And I know it’s not a dream
Bang. Bang. Bang. Still desperate to get in
Adrenaline burning, can’t feel the diamonds in my skin
Eight, nine, ten
I’m desperate again
The door I’ve pierced, it tears
The steam is gone, it slides along
They both turn up and stare
The barrier is a hole now
I’m starting to unfold now
My dripping hand goes through

“You ate my heart.”
“You ate my heart.”
“And now I’m eating you.”
