Too Many Goodbyes

How can I sit here like this?
Its three am and you’re leaving soon from this place
I think what I’m going to miss
The most is seeing your face
When I’m sad or happy
Or just trying to get by
You holding my hand
When I’m trying not to cry
And right now
As tears roll down my face
I can see how
You might have fallen from grace

There’ve been too many years
And too many goodbyes
Too many hows
And too many whys
I’ve got plenty of friends
But it doesn’t seem to cover
The sting of saying goodbye to one
And even though I know
We’ll somehow meet again,
The tears seem to roll down
My face none the less

Right now
I can’t seem to keep my promise
Yet somehow
I don’t think you’ll think of me less
I hope you’re not doing
The very same thing
I hope that you’ll be happy
And not think of the sting
Don’t go into your hole
Come out and face the crowd
Make some new friends
And scream it out loud

There’ve been too many years
And too many goodbyes
Too many hows
And too many whys
I’ve got plenty of friends
But it doesn’t seem to cover
The sting of saying goodbye to one
And even though I know
We’ll somehow meet again,
The tears seem to roll down
My face none the less

So tell me
How you’re doing
Every couple of years
So I don’t worry
Cause you mean so much to me
I don’t think you can see
How much you truly mean to me

There’ve been too many years
And too many goodbyes
Too many how
And too many whys
I’ve got plenty of friends
But it doesn’t seem to cover
The sting of saying goodbye to one
And even though I know
We’ll somehow meet again,
The tears seem to roll down
My face none the less

So tell me
How can I sit here like this?
Yes, tell me
And try not to think of me less
I just wanted to say
What you mean to me
