When The Car Drove By

You want to know a secret?
The world ain’t what anyone thinks it is today
Some live for their future
I live for the day
To you the world could be bleak and flat
To another, all they see is the gluttonous gettin’ fat
To me, I see, I breathe, I believe
That the world is only what people want to see
Some don’t want to face the truth of the poverty in the streets
Hey, there’s some that don’t even care
About the world outside of “what should I wear”
And as a dealer sells to a valedictorian football Capitan
From the high school that he can’t escape; he’s being trapped in
Because he doesn’t understand what his teachers are sayin’
And the rent is late ‘cuz his mother hasn’t been payin’
She relies on him to support a family
That he was born into third out of seven.
His dad left a legacy of his mother cryin’
And a no good reputation couldn’t keep him from diein’
By the hand of a Valedictorian football Capitan who couldn’t stand to see the fightin’!
So he drops out of school and loses his ride
And because of it there’s no where to hide
When the bullets start flying and he loses two brothers
Because they couldn’t get out of the way in time when the car drove by.
