Angels

You’ve been there
In the night sky
Floating your mind
Wasting your time
And as you cry
By the fireflies
You stop
And you think

You look ahead
To an endless mural being painted
You look
And original beauty seems fainted
And faded, like fog
But in fact
What you’ve been praying for
Is here
And it’s as strong as ever

Drop to the ground and listen
For the wind and your lips are kissing
An angel drifts softly along the grass
There’s an angel hiding in each wall you pass
Some angels you’ll see while the rest of them float
But they whisper sweet nothings to give you hope
Believe in fate and you’ll know it’s true
That an angel protects you

Angels weep every time you fall
But they won’t let you fall all the way
And they whisper of love and forgiveness
And you know they’re here to stay

As we think we fall apart
The angels hold us up
And everything we think is true
Might just be a bluff
Anger is pure nonsense
In a troubled time like this
We’ve been through too much blood and tears
To not have enough bliss

We’ve worn our angels out
I think it’s time that we give back
Keep the day’s sky blue and keep
The pretty night sky’s black
And throw out all the envy, spite
And anger from your life
We must take a stand
To help the angels win the fight

And you all know an angel
Who is watching over you
But through all of your sorrow
Don’t forget they want you to
Push along the roads of life
And show off your true face
To be a walking angel
With a cloud of hope to chase
