Ella

The sky was dark with evening
And down the street alone
A special girl with long dark curls
was walking her way home

The yucky creepy crawlies,
Had just started up her spine,
She took a chance to turn around
And shot a glance behind

An unfamiliar shadow,
she’d never seen before
Shot her out a devious grin,
Forewarning what was in store.

“Hello? Who are you?”
Her throat tightened up
“Hello my precious petal,
You can call me Chuck,”

“My name is Ella,”
she responded with a squeak.
“I know,” he laughed so devilishly,
Ella’s knees fell weak.

“Why are you followoing me?”
She stumbled so far away,
“Because Petal I want you,
I’ve been following you for days.”

Ella’s heart was thudding
As her words abandoned her,
But Chuck, he didn’t mind,
After all it was his turn.

“I’ve seen you wake and stretch
I’ve seen you eat and drink
I saw you holding hands
With Brett at the skating rink.

I saw you kiss that Zachary fellow
At the park behind the tree.
You hoped nobody saw you two,
But everything you do I see.”

Ella then began to cry
As true terror did set in
Chuck didn’t like these tears, so
He advanced and snatched her chin.

Forcing her to meet his eyes
And see his serious face,
He didn’t want her sobbing
Not in this open place.

“Now listen to me Petal,
I’d like to keep this calm,
But don’t you test my limits Doll,
I’m like a ticking bomb.”

Ella shook her head and sobbed,
Hoping he’d let go
But he sent her flying to the ground
With a heavy blow.

“Be quiet, stop your crying,
We’re leaving now, get up”
He helped her to her feet
And her cheek he cupped.

“I’m sorry that I hit you,
I told you to stay relaxed
But with your silly weeping,
My patience has been taxed.”

Ella bit her lip and nodded
Trying to stay silent
She knew now a darker side
This man Chuck could be violent.

He gently took her hand
Lacing her fingers with his
“Don’t ask my why it has to be,
You just need to know it is.

I love you Ella, my sweet dear,
My little sunkissed petal,
I’m glad you stopped your little fit
You’ll be glad you settled.”

Ella looked back down the alley
She had entered so long ago, it seeemed
She couldn’t help but wonder,
If only she’d had courage and screamed.

And just around that alley corner
Ella forever disappeared
When just around the opposite,
Strolled just what Chuck had feared.
