What do you see?

When you look at me
What do you see?
Do you see the strong front
I try to put up?
Or do you see the pieces
Of my once whole heart?
Can you tell I'm crying
One the inside?
Or do you just see
My fake smile?
Can you see past my
Silly childish acts?
Or can you not tell
Of my mature attitude inside?
When you talk to me
Can you tell what I'm feeling?
Can you hear the lies?
What do you listen too?
My lies that roll off my tongue?
Or the truth hidden behind them?
Do you hear my inner voice
Trying to get out?
Or only the voice I use
So there is no arguement?
Can you tell that I want to cry?
Do you insist I tell you the truth?
Or do you not care
Only wanting to talk about you?
When you think of me
Do you think of my outer beauty
Or my inner beauty?
Do you think about me at all?
Or just about you?
Do you think about
What we have in common?
Or our differences?
Do you think about
how different I am
From the other people you know?
Do you like my differences?
Or just want to change me?
Do you want me the way I am
Or do you want me your way.
I'm not what people see
I'm not what people believe
If you can't see past my front,
If you can't see my hurt I'm hiding
If you can't tell of the want I have
Just for us to be together again
Then maybe it is best to forget
Maybe we never were right for each other
Maybe things are better off
The way they are
Because if you can't see the real me,
The me I'm trying to hide,
Trying to protect from the hurt
If you can't see my hurt in my eyes
Or hear it in my voice
If you only want to mold me
Into an image you have for me
Then I don't want you
But if you can
If you can see the hurt
If you can hear it
If you can see past my front
The lies I tell
If you can see my broken heart
And try to mend it
Then I made a terrible mistake
One that I will regret for the rest of my life
But one that I can not take back
So when you look at me
When you listen to me
When you think of me,
What do you see?
What do you hear?
What are your thoughts?
Is it of a figure?
Or the me I'm trying to hide?
