The Little Girl: Part 1

The little girl inside was taught to dream
Laugh and play
Dance and sing
To always be happy
And never be sad

And if she was good
A white knight would come
To take her away
To a place where she would stay
Safe,
Protected,
And most of all
Loved

Forever and for always

So the girl waited
For surely if she was good; her white knight would come
But days came and went
The earth never pausing in it's rotation around the sun
And still, she was yet to be moved

Then one day he came
A white knight
And the little girl loved

She loved for many turns of the sun
Until the day she discovered
He was only a man
Not a white knight
Not even hers
And the little girl wept
For she had never been told there was more than one

Against her will; the sun did turn
But not for her
For her eyes were dull; there was no spark in them
And her heart was no longer inside

And so,
the little girl said,
if this is life then I do not desire it
Her spirit lying shattered on the ground

Then he came,
A white knight
And he picked up her spirit
Saying this is not the way
And so he told her
Showed her;
How to be

A little part of her dying inside

But still she tried,
She wanted to learn what she lacked
For, if she was his princess, she had to know

Still, the sun did turn
The little girl watching its rise
Tears flowing fresh from her eyes
For she had learned
That this white knight was not hers

Days did come
And nights did go
But still the little girl sat in place
For never did her tale come to be
There was no white knight for her
She was nobody's princess

And as the little girl sat
Walls of pure crystal rose around her
A hard shell from which she could still see the stars
For she could not exist there
She did not belong
And so, therefore, she could not be

The little girl watched as her walls grew
A useful tool, so she thought
And she named her woman
Her protector and savior
For woman would not let her be hurt

And so the earth did turn
Nights becoming day
And days becoming night

All the while
The little girl dormant
Safe and asleep in her powerful prison
For woman kept away all who came near
She would not let the little girl come to harm
Not by anyone, except for herself

The earth did turn around the sun
But woman refused to be moved
Her heart buried within her depths
For no one would harm the little girl
The one no one could love
And the only one that could
