The Possibility

She could say no.
She has every right to say no.
I made her wait,
she didn't even know I was on my way.

My heart in my throat,
racing at speeds faster then I knew possible.
My foot pushing the petal,
racing the highway.

The little box in my lap.
My pure white outfit,
and strait black hat.
My eyes hiding behind shades.

I knew what I wanted,
knew this was right.
I knew where I was headed.
I knew what I had to do.

Car skidded to a stop,
stares growing as I lock it.
Eyes are on me,
as I walk to her door.

Knocking on the door,
dizzy with the possibilities.
The look on her face,
when she sees me standing there.

I'm breathless as she smiles,
she loves this surprise.
Down on one knee, box in hand.
Will you marry me?
