Consume

More perplexing than it first appears,
Ensnaring hearts, pushing fears,
From the consumers, saved from tears,
That may fall, instead hear cheers,

Painted in pictures, embedded in minds,
It's an art, but needs to be refined,
Because sometimes someone loses their blind eye,
And can truly see meaning of the things from the skies,

Wrapped in ribbon and a malicious grin,
Thought friendly, familiar but what lies within,
Is something not with blackened heart nor sin,
Instead is captured in a mirror, for you, to sing,

Quite beautiful from the outside,
Glittering, real it seems as is the ice,
Because that is how we mere mortals define,
A tree dressed in white, as the year rolls by,

Snapped, quickly, up from the dust,
The dark and sad, eternal night, we trust,
That falls quicker, each passing hour, must,
The eyes and smiles be never just,

First impressions are deceiving,
Pulling down on your heart, heaving,
Hoping to see the light but feeling,
That the darkness is still worth believing.
