Keeping Up Appearances

It burns,
Makes her want to gag,
Rid her mouth of the awful poison,
But it has such numbing effects.
Its clear,
Like water,
But hardly purifying.
Makes her head light,
Thoughts fuzzy,
Yet she takes another sip.
Alone in her room,
She prepares it.
Bottle of the stolen liquor,
Light and cigarette in the drawer,
Ingredients of a good night,
For someone who just wants pain.
While she poisons her body,
With liquid and gas,
She's keeping up appearances.
No one knows of these awful habits,
Other then the person who stares back at her in the mirror.
