Heart of Stone
I've looked with scorn
On this word called love
Because its imagined so pure
Like that white dove
But how the great fall
When faced with a truth
Because all that we knew
Was a folly in youth
Some things do change
When circumstance breaks
And its amazing the roads
That a lover takes
I'd written that message
On my heart of stone
But I find that broken
And the message thrown
My hearts not still
But beating its joy
Not here in my chest
But as another's toy
I don't dare ask
Them to give it back
Because then I know
My heart would black
As it bled its life
And my hopes on the floor
But here I hold
And my hopes I store
So I'll ask you nicely
Treat my heart right
Because I'd dread to think
You could leave my sight
On this word called love
Because its imagined so pure
Like that white dove
But how the great fall
When faced with a truth
Because all that we knew
Was a folly in youth
Some things do change
When circumstance breaks
And its amazing the roads
That a lover takes
I'd written that message
On my heart of stone
But I find that broken
And the message thrown
My hearts not still
But beating its joy
Not here in my chest
But as another's toy

And my hopes on the floor

And my hopes I store
