A Hopeless Cause

Thinking back on memories,
There's only one I can recall,
The day when my best friend's life,
Came tumbling to a fall.

Now, before I tell my tale,
And before I hear applause,
Every good story needs a title,
So this one's called, A Hopeless Cause.

She was known as "The Good Girl,"
And the best friend of three,
Funny, odd, and easily scared,
And nice as can be.

Friends for seven years,
We were never seen apart,
And we always said no matter what,
We'd be in each others heart.

And then the unthinkable happened,
She was moving 2000 miles away,
We sat together in her room,
Dreading of that one September day.

Huddled in a tent,
We promised to be friends,
No matter how far apart we were,
We'd be friends 'til the end.

A few weeks had passed,
Since we last saw her face,
But we were happy for her,
'Cause she said she liked the place.

She said it was nice,
But different from home,
And she also had metioned,
That she wasn't alone.

She made some new friends,
And they even had plans,
They were okay in my books,
Hey, they were Green Day fans.

Although she didn't like Green Day,
I knew that she'd be alright,
Since her new friends weren't teenies,
Not even a slight.

Then one day,
She met someone new,
Someone that was totally different,
Than me and you.

Her new friend was popular,
Had power, and talked smack,
Now, my friend was ever so interested,
In this ability she lacked.

Joining their clique,
She left her other friends behind,
Getting brainwashed by their teenie ways,
She wasn't in the right state of mind.

Hearing what was going on,
We helped in many ways,
Then she went back to normal,
For at least a couple of days.

Although we though she was back,
Everything seemed to go wrong,
For the teenie clique's power,
Was just to damn strong.

She began to hang out with both groups,
She thought it was a perfect dream,
Until she had to choose,
Well, she was stuck inbetween.

As the days went by,
We noticed a bigger change,
From lies, to fights,
It was all very strange.

Disliking these changes.
We said this was it,
Even though we knew this day would come,
We still had a fit.

The fights were more frequent.
The lies were larger than ever,
We didn't think we'd make up.
Or be friends again. Never.

We talked for a bit.
Our problems cooled down,
And that's when she told us,
She was coming to town.

The excitment rushed through our minds,
As the countdown began,
Just three, just two, just one,
More day to stand.

And then it came,
She was here to greet,
But before we could,
She asked where to meet.

We agreed on Java Hut,
At exactly three,
But then we began to worry,
About what we'd see.

We knew she was different,
We knew she had changed,
But our timing could never,
Be rearranged.

As her car finally pulled in,
Fifteen minutes late,
Our jaw hit the floor,
As we though, "Oh great."

Mini skirt, pink top,
And huge sunglasses to match,
With her little purse and high heels,
It wasn't a good sight to snatch.

We talked for a while,
Just the four of us,
She was exactly the same,
Which was a plus.

As the summer continued on,
A large fight broke out,
Yelling and arguing,
This friendship was a doubt.

For this fight had started,
When she told us what she had done,
To one of our best friends,
Which wasn't so fun.

She cheated on her boyfriend,
By kissing another guy,
She admitted that she liked it,
All I could think of was, "Why?"

Anger raged inside of me,
I felt like telling him the truth,
And then I wanted to punch my friend,
And break her fucking tooth.

She finally got the courage,
To tell him what was going on,
Shocked, sad, and angry,
But he never realized he won.

He was out of her trance,
And could think fairly clear,
So he decided to get up,
And go drink a beer.

Calling us the next day,
We all made peace,
But I secretly knew,
These fights wouldn't cease.

While she was on holiday with her grandma,
It gave us time to think,
About how much her attitude,
Really, really stinks.

She started to get on our nerves,
And drove us up the wall,
With her talk about fashion,
And going to the mall.

When she came back,
She thought everything was fine,
But she never even noticed,
How much she crossed the line.

She didn't realize what was going on,
Or what life had instore,
She just payed attention to herself,
And nothing more.

An MSN conversation,
Ruined the rest of the night,
When she opened her big mouth,
And we got in a fight.

She was mad 'cause all I do,
Is talk about the band I love,
But if it wasn't for them,
I'd be up above.

Talking with one of her old friends,
We tried to find a way,
Of how we could bring her back to normal,
And make sure it stays.

Our list of ways seemed to get,
Smaller and smaller as we went along,
So we just gave up and said,
"She's gone."

As horrible as this sounds,
I'm glad we're in a fight,
I hope it stays like this forever,
So I can actually sleep at night.

For she isn't the same girl,
That I used to know,
And instead of being with her,
I'd rather be alone.

Now, she doesn't realize,
How many good friendship's are broken,
And she doesn't realize,
How many hateful words were unspoken.

She says she leaves for home,
In less than a week,
As I sit there and stare,
Not able to speak.

Happiness spreads,
Thoughout my mind,
But then I realize that our friendship,
Will be left behind.

It kills me to know,
That we are not friends,
What ever happened to,
"Friends 'til the end?"

But then I think,
Why should I feel bad?
When she's the one,
Throwing away our friendship for a fad.

As "The Hopeless Cause" moves on,
We forget the things that we recall,
Except the day when my best friend's life,
Came tumbling to a fall.

THE FUCKING END!
