She Hurts Herself

With tears falling from her eyes
I begin to wonder why
Even after all this time
She hurts herself.

She hides the truth
A fake excuse
Away from me and you
She hurts herself.

A ‘perfect’ life
Harmony, no strife
But with her knife
She hurts herself.

The pain feels good
The drops of blood
Staining if ever they could as
She hurts herself.

Inside she’s empty
Hollowness plenty
Her soul is heavy
She hurts herself.

Now I ask
As in tears we bask
She hid behind her mask as
She hurts herself.

Now here we stand
At a grave unplanned
Alone, hand in hand because
She hurts herself.

If only we’d heard
In silence her words
The plea’s to not be absurd saying
She hurts herself.

She doesn’t hurt, she heals
She doesn’t hide, she reveals
She isn’t empty because she feels
She doesn’t hurt herself.

And at the funeral she cried
For a best friend had died
Taken before her time
Because she hurt herself
