Story of a Girl

You've been blinded by beauties
far beyond your reach.
You look past every heart your name has rested upon
to covet the world of a statue.
Your eyes do not see how much compassion
is in her expression from the sidelines.
She's there when it's convenient for you,
hoping and praying that you will throw an
ounce of feeling her way.
You don't see her face when you speak,
dream of some unpresent being.
You don't feel her cringe at someone else's name.
Fate has thrown you together,
and stupidity has kept you apart.
Friendship has limits, just like her heart.
Her strength and tongue can only be held for so long.
You don't appretiate her,
nor are you there for her when she needs you.
But she will continue to answer your cries,
soothe you when your statue crumbles to the ground.
She will continue to be used, abused
because it's better than being ignored.
You tell her everything and don't hold back.
For her this burden is a double edged sword,
thrilling and maddening in one swipe of the blade.
If she leaves, just walks away,
will you notice?
Will you miss her?
