Cob-webbed rib cages

they remind me of chocked city streets of Bengal
and night fairy's that weave through dreams
and of melancholic desire
and contagious felicity in dandelion fields
they remind me of cob-webbed rib cages
and of the wrinkles in thirsty soil
and balconies with rusted cast iron railings
they remind me of walls traced with emerald ivy
and leather bound spines
they remind me of sea-grass breathing in turquoise air
and coral waterfalls of mirth
and of columns of opaque smoke
and painters strokes in the sky of Saturn's rings
they remind me of effulgent scales of an iguana
and captured snowflakes on eyelashes

i dread the day when they'll close,
never to flicker open again;
the phantasms lost
with her soul
