Words to the Wind by a Dying Leaf
Why must you taunt me, wind?
Why must you blow at me,
And make me leave my home,
My cozy little tree.
Do I have to fall?
Down on the hard ground
Where my siblings lay
Rotting in a mound?
You’re blowing harder now.
More violent than before.
You’re blowing me away.
I must go, live no more.
I’m on my last root, no time to stall.
Farewell to you wind, now I must fall.
Why must you blow at me,
And make me leave my home,
My cozy little tree.
Do I have to fall?
Down on the hard ground
Where my siblings lay
Rotting in a mound?
You’re blowing harder now.
More violent than before.
You’re blowing me away.
I must go, live no more.
I’m on my last root, no time to stall.
Farewell to you wind, now I must fall.
