Sad Eyes

She’s sad, and it’s obvious
Everyone wants to know of
Her pain and cold heartedness
As she sits alone
She’s secluded herself
Glued to her chair
As the drink in her cup
Begins to disappear
Is everything alright?
Her friend would say
But the truth is
She didn’t even want to go out that night
You look sad...
He says, and asks... was it something I said?
If only they could know
It’s not that bad

So dry those sad eyes
Throw your worries at the door
Get off your chair
And rock the dance floor
Turn that sadness into moves
Pick up that smile
And throw off your shoes
Because if you just pretend
Your friends won’t have to worry
When you dry your sad eyes

She just wanted to be alone
But the pain in her gut told her to go
Not that she wanted to have any fun
She just wanted to be there so her friend wasn’t alone
And the drink in her glass slides down easy
Her limit of one disappears
The bar tender smiles and hands her another
Thinking she finally got over her tears
And she smiles
But inside she hurts
She laughs...
But when they don’t look
She dreams of walking home
It’s just a bad time
It’s just a bad day
But no one likes a cry baby
At a bar!

So dry those sad eyes
Throw your worries at the door
Get off your chair
And rock the dance floor
Turn that sadness into moves
Pick up that smile
And throw off your shoes
Because if you just pretend
Your friends won’t have to worry
When you dry your sad eyes

This is how it goes
She helps everyone but is so alone
No one hugs her, no one tries
To tell her things will be alright
No, it’s not fair
And she’s not fine
But she plays along
And is someone else for an entire night
